Michael Jordan is, obviously, the GOAT debate starter of all time, but the thing that actually gets brought up less in casual conversation is that he's given hundreds of millions of dollars to charity, including funding two medical clinics back in his hometown of Charlotte that provide free and low-cost healthcare. That's the kind of legacy that doesn't trend the way a highlight reel does, but honestly means more. I grew up watching clips of his career on YouTube way after the fact, this whole mythologized figure, and it's kind of grounding to realize the actual adult version of that story includes just quietly funding healthcare access for people who need it. We talk so much online about legacy and 'staying humble' as buzzwords, but Jordan's version of it is just a clinic that exists because he built it. I respect that more than another highlight. Some GOATs just win games. This one also built something that outlasts the scoreboard.
