Adriana Lima (b. 1981)

Adriana Lima was one of the longest-running Victoria's Secret Angels and one of the highest-paid models in the world, which on its face sounds like pure glamour, but "longest-running" is the word that actually catches my attention as a small-business owner — staying at the top of a notoriously fast-churning, brutal industry for that many years takes real discipline and business sense underneath all the visible sparkle. Running my bakery has taught me that surviving long-term in any competitive field, food or fashion, means the unglamorous stuff behind the scenes matters as much as the product people actually see. I imagine there was a whole operation of discipline, scheduling, and sheer professional consistency behind Lima's career that nobody claps for the way they clap for the campaigns themselves. My own margins are thinner than a modeling contract's, sure, but the underlying lesson feels the same: the people who last in any hard industry are usually the ones who treated the boring parts as seriously as the exciting ones.
