Bruce Lee was a martial artist and actor whose films, "Enter the Dragon" especially, brought martial arts to a truly global audience and made him an enduring cultural icon well beyond just the sport itself. I don't know much about martial arts history, but I know what it looks like when somebody has to work twice as hard just to get taken seriously in an industry that wasn't built expecting someone like them to succeed in it at all, and from what I've read, that describes a good chunk of Bruce Lee's early career trying to break into Hollywood on his own terms rather than the terms handed to him. He didn't wait around for the industry to decide he belonged; he built the proof himself, on screen, until nobody could argue with it anymore. That's a story I recognize from my own family, just in a completely different field — you don't get invited in, most of the time, you have to make the case for yourself loud enough that they can't ignore it.
